Learning to Walk in the Footsteps of Jesus
About Lindsay
I currently live in Wilson, NC with my husband, Patrick, and children, Abigail, Elijah, and Enoch. My life has been quite an unexpected journey. Sometimes it is smooth; other times so rough I'm not sure I'll survive. On this journey, God has been faithfully teaching me that He is enough. It is my desire, to help other women embrace the path to which God has called them so that they may grow in Him.
My parents were missionaries in Western New York. I learned of Christ from a young age and was blessed to grow up in a "Christian Bubble", safely protected by my parents. I was even blessed with attending a Christian school for 7th-12th grade. College was not like what I had always known. There were people with differing beliefs, even among other Christians. It was the first time in my life when the majority of people around me didn't necessarily agree with me. Through class lectures, class discussions, worship "experiences", talking with friends, and searching the Scriptures, I began to understand what I believed and why.
I was married the summer before my senior year of college. After finishing my B.S. in Childhood Education, we moved to Louisville, KY. My first teaching job opened my heart to a very unique group of people - middle schoolers. Though I loved teaching, I longed for a child of my own. After several years, I was blessed with my sweet Abigail. We decided I should stay home to care for her. I left teaching to be a full-time wife, mommy, and keeper of my home. I had reached the epitome of all I ever wanted. My "picture-perfect life" was finally realized. I looked down on those who struggled. If you follow God's plan, life is good!
Then my world came crashing down. I learned of my husband's affair. He said it was over, but I tried to work things out. Then I learned he was having a second affair. Though I wanted to reconcile, he wanted out. I learned that it takes two to keep a marriage going. He filed for divorce, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I was devastated, broken, and unsure of how to provide for my baby girl. My parents came to help. I decided to move in with them until I was "back on my feet." We headed back to Western New York. My parents provided food and shelter. A family friend provided a job, without me even applying! I also had the opportunity to go back to school. I was able to graduate with an M.S. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment while paying off debt and saving up for the future. By the summer of 2015, God was moving me on.
Go, and later you'll find out where you're going. That is so scary! My dad had been called to pastor a church in Pennsylvania, and my parents were moving. Though they offered to let us move with them, I felt the Lord was "pushing me out of the nest." The week before school started, I was hired to teach at a school in North Carolina. I would truly be on my own, as my closest relative, my brother, lived over an hour away! I was able to find a job teaching middle school and eventually coaching soccer.
I have loved living in North Carolina, and this is where I met my husband, Patrick! We got to know each other through a game night with mutual friends and both attended the same church. We were married on April 22, 2019; January 2020 brought us Elijah; Patrick's adoption of Abi was finalized in August 2021, and Enoch came along in December 2022! We also started a non-profit in 2022 (CLT)! This has been an abundant life, and I'm not even 50 yet! Here's hoping I can use my experiences and sanctification to better help you grow in Christ as well!
